Well, here is the first pair of Sterling 23s fresh off the the line. They are beautiful.

Hey guys here is a mini-update.
The frame temple angles are good to mass produce!! One of the issues that has been vexing us was the angle on the temples. The temples of of the Sterling close in the front this is something that is not done on modern frames.
We have 'relearned' through several trial and errors. Here are two images of 'Rough' frames. These are examples of the closing angle, they are not polished and don't have the shields on yet, but I wanted you all to see that production is moving forward and not to worry. These are not sexy images, but you have been involved in every aspect of production so I wanted to share these with you.

Keeping My Backers in the Loop.
Hey guys and gals, here is another quick update. I expected images last week, of Production Samples, (sales samples) but as you can tell it didn't happen.
Making products new and getting them into production has peaks and valleys. It is a frustrating process at times, but also very rewarding. Together, you and I are making a new product. No matter the challenges and the stress on my side that is wicked cool!!
I have been giving you information as I have been getting it, so when what I say doesn't happen, I take that on personally. The problem is I am working on information that my production team gives me and it is subject to change.
So there was an issue this week that slowed the production samples which are sales samples and that is why I don't have the images for you. Here is an excerpt from my correspondence with my production team.
'Everything is moving on ,but this style need more time ,I am sorry that we need more time study how to make the best products for you ,during samples moving ,the bulk goods also moving ,you will have the products what you need ."
The positive is that bulk production is not held up and is still on schedule. My Sales Samples are a little behind. This doesn't affect you. It affects me and my ability to get the glasses into stores and into magazines for reviews in the timeframe I was hoping for.
As always, I am keeping you up to date as I have information. I have been skyping, emailing and talking on the phone with my team daily and all is moving forward. Once I have images I will post them here and on the Facebook page. Once I receive the Production Samples in my hand I will have a proper photoshoot.

You all knew I traveled to Asia in
person to finalize the production sample, and boy am I glad that I did. It has
been a busy trying, tiring week here for me in Shanghai. It is my last day and
I am ready to get back to my wife and children. I’m not going to candy coat
anything, I think that is one of the things all of you appreciate about me.
The Samples
The sample was done, it was a good sample
but it wasn’t perfect. I didn’t launch for my product to be ‘good enough’ my
product needs to be excellent. These glasses are my passion. I mean, that’s
what you want isn’t it? Excellence? That’s why you backed the campaign, right? a look at the New Sterling 23 sample.
Image 1

With this head on look you can see the
classic nose piece with the arch, large lenses just a beautiful look at the sample.
I am really thrilled with the quality of the entire piece. The stainless steel
is much lighter and much stronger than the glasses made in
the 1920s.
Image 2

The side-shields are great and perfect by
themselves, though they are not properly attached and have to be re-done. I have been working with antique delicate side-shields so to hold
these was a thrill. They are tough as nails, frames, temples, nose bridge and
shields, stronger and lighter than I imagined.
The Glitch
So the issue was the side-shields were
not properly attached and the angle on the temples was wrong so the temples
couldn't close in the front properly. Also the coloring of the steel wasn't
quite right. They aren't perfect and they have to be. Again, isn't that what we
all want?
The Bad News
As always there is something and with crowdfunded projects the
challenge is production and shipping time. It is not like making an order from
AmazonPrime and getting it the next day. From the beginning, I said production
time would be my biggest challenge and it is.
The Finish Line
The new sample will be
ready Oct 27-30th and I can approve via sight on Skype. I don't have leverage to 'rush the order'. I had to
scrap a lot of glasses as they weren't right so we are starting fresh. 60 days
after I approve these samples, manufacturing will be complete. I am
working my ass off to get these done and pressing as hard as I can to deliver
an excellent product ASAP. Contractually the manufacturer has until January
15th to start shipping my product. They wanted until March but I couldn’t
accept that. I’m disappointed and frustrated about the timing, as I am sure
some of you may be, but I’m confident the wait will be worth it. Thanks
for your continued support.
